The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRFSO) came into force on October 1st 2006. There will be more impetus on fire risk assessments, which companies should already have in place under the workplace regulations. An integral part of the fire risk assessment should be fire training particularly on the use of the different types of fire safety equipment in the premises, fire evacuation drills and procedures for raising the alarm in the event of a fire. It is recommended that fire training be completed annually by all employees, and bi-annually for night workers.
