FWG Annual Golf Day
Firewatch have raised many tens of thousands of pounds for South West charities over the last 12 years. This year CEO Martin Smith who organises the event is changing the format.
The Firewatch annual golf day will now be named ‘CHARLIES TROPHY’ . Charlie is the two year old grandson of Martin & Jill, both his mother Becky and father Gary work for Firewatch. Charlie is one of a twin, his sister Evie is a lively walking and talking mischievous two year old, whilst Charlie is somewhat behind he has a condition called Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome (RTS).
This condition effects 1 in 125,000 and the main features are learning disabilities ranging from mild to severe, delayed development milestones, characteristic facial features, a relatively small head size and a higher incidence of some medical conditions such as epilepsy, cardiac and eye defects.
Becky has had a lot of help from the RTS Support Group and from other parents around the country and the world, both Gary and Becky are keen to both raise the awareness of RTS as well raise some much needed funds for the support group.
In addition a donation will be made to Action for Children and specifically the centre at Watcombe in Torquay whose organiser Theresa Wills has been particularly supportive to Becky.
The golf day this year is at Dainton Park on the 12th July , Martin has sent out entry forms and asking for sponsors , already SYSTEM6 KITCHENS of Exeter have agreed to be the main sponsors, the event last year had 104 entries we are hoping for 120 this year.
