Chris completes his apprenticeship
The apprenticeship scheme through South Devon College has seen us benefit by gaining a valued member of staff.

Chris Newby joined us back in May, training in Electrical Installation and has recently completed his apprenticeship; at the recent awards ceremony Chris was named ‘Best Electrical Installation Apprentice’ from a shortlist of 11 other apprentices, and through that was also nominated for Apprentice of the Year.
Apprenticeships are a great way for people to gain qualifications whilst in work, earning whilst learning.

Apprenticeships are suitable for anyone over the age of 16 and can be used to take on and develop new staff or to up-skill your current workforce. Apprenticeships include:

• National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) or equivalent
• Key Skills (including Communications and Application of Number)
• Technical Certificates
and other relevant qualifications.

As apprenticeships continue to be high on the Government agenda, and demonstrate their impact for employers and the prospects for the area, there has never been a better time to either begin training on an apprenticeship programme or consider what employing an apprentice could do for your business. South Devon College can offer a wide range of frameworks in differing career paths, and has a specialist team who can discuss your needs and ensure that your goals are met with the College.
